Junior Bioinformatics Analyst

NeoVentures is looking for a candidate to join our growing team of researchers in the role of Junior Bioinformatics Analyst. This role will support our bioinformatics efforts in analyzing Aptamarker (DNA sequence) data as it relates to proteomics applications.
Neoventures Biotechnology Europe is a private research company in Villejuif, France that has developed and commercialized a novel next generation sequencing based proteomics platforms with the capacity to detect any change in any protein in any species. The successful applicant will be applying machine learning to the detection of patterns underlying medical conditions, developing machine learning algorithms for predicting the abundance of defined proteins and developing mathematical applications for the characterization of structural isoforms. The position will report to our senior bioinformatician in Canada. We are building a team of bioinformaticians that are committed to rigorous science while developing powerful new tools to move healthcare forward.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the analysis of Aptamarker data that will be used for the creation of predictive algorithms for targeted proteins.
- Support analysis of client based Aptamarker applications
- Execute existing data analysis pipelines on Aptamarker sequence data sets including meta-analysis of oligonucleotide secondary structures.
- Maintain clear file management and coordination across multiple simultaneous projects.
- Provide output in summaries suitable for sharing externally.
Qualifications
- Master’s in computational biology, bioinformatics, biostatistics.
- Experience implementing NGS and -omics data processing pipelines.
- Knowledge of common bioinformatics file types and analysis tools.
- Proficiency in Python and R.
- A background in molecular biology/genetics.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Eligible to work in France
- Fluency in English.
Assets
- Familiarity and proficiency generating effective data visualizations.
- Familiarity with shell scripting and basic command-line tools
Contract Type: Fixed-Term Contract CDD
Start Date: As soon as possible
Contract Length: 12 months, renewable
Hours: Full-time – 35 hours/week
